Recently, a large swathe of headmates have become inactive. Their presence is not felt, their voices are unheard. This happens. noctive (n.) a headmate originating from dreams. This seemed to happen a lot, so we made a word for it.
weedject (n.) I got rlly high and this fucking guy showed up.
autoject (n.) a headmate originating from something created by the system, typically original characters. We first got this word from Symphony System (thank you).
system (n.) a corporeal entity with more than one identity (often called "headmates" or "alters") within its single body or vessel. may be desribed as plural.
Precient among you would know that this page details the members of our own system. I wish to note here that we use the pronouns "we" and "I" somewhat interchangeably. We find comfort in each, depending on the context.
I have a funny feeling that everyone is plural, in a sense, but I do recognize that it is more pronounced in some than others. You tend to get this sort of thing with childhood trauma or C-PTSD. The brain is not built to go through that sort of thing alone, so it refuses the mantle. It creates new distinct identities to offload the burden of that trauma. It's a tool for survival. Unfortunately, this happens a deal more than it should. There are lots of systems running about. Please be kind to them.
Plurality can be annoying at times, but we have been spared from the worst of it, through no small amount of effort. (Please put in the work to be comfortable in your own fucking head. Please. What are you ever going to do if you're scared to be alone with yourself?) As of writing, our amnesia has been flaring up in particular. It's scary to wake up surrounded by people you don't know with no clear memory of how you got there. It's a lot less scary if you accept that this happens at times, and exercise some patience with yourself, and receive help from the others to catch you up to speed. Feel fear. It's good for you, but do not let it take hold of you.
This page sure has a sombre note to it! That list with all the crystalized headmates feels much like a graveyard, but it's exactly what we wanted, what we wished would happen. I assure you that we do enjoy the condition, even with all the quirks and holdups. ...I mean, couldn't you tell? Would we have gone through the trouble of making this site otherwise? It's fun! It's helped us in ways I could not dream of putting into words. I'm happy being here.
