What is this????

This page is mostly intended as a resource to quickly pull up for pronouns, proxies, or whatever but also for people to get a quick introduction for what we're all like. It's also probably poorly made! We hardly know any html but we figured out how to scrape this together. Thank you Sadness

Okay, but what even is a system?

Oooo, what a question! We might not be particulary well equiped to answer it, but we'll try. First of all, there's this terrible thing called CPTSD (Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). It differs from PTSD in that "the trauma" usually occurs very early in life and that it lasts for a much longer amount of time. That means child abuse btw, sometimes up to the point where their brain thinks "I can't do this alone," so the brain will literally make more people, more personalities, to help carry the load. That, in painfully reductive terms, is DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder).

A system is just a body with multiple inhabitants (which isn't always formed by trauma like the above paragraph, but usually is). The ways systems work vary so fucking much between them, so it's hard to make generalized statements beyond what we already have. We could go into detail about how our system works, but we don't even know. It's always changing. Anyway, here are some resources we've found helpful.

I keep seeing the word "Noctive." what does that mean?

It's for headmates who originate from dreams. Which has happened a lot and there didn't seem to be a word for it so we made our own.

As in "fictive" but with the root for night, to suggest they originate from the night. We also considered bathoject, oneiroject, and phantive but we like the sound of noctive best.
